Time Management

Travel Suggestions

Travelling in the car can be time well spent. Plan your visits carefully and take along the contact numbers of those clients you need to talk to. Make sure you are hands free so you can concentrate on your driving. Why not even have a Dictaphone or note book to jot down the thoughts as they come into your head. I adopted this practice when I was a commercial manager and found that I worked more efficiently and my secretary had all my letter out in the mail on the same day. Plug in remote laptop access and sent and retrieve your own emails. Here are a few tips for when you are out of the office.

  • Always ensure you have a supply of business cards with you.
  • Don't forget to take your mobile phone with you.
  • Make good use of your drive time. Listen to soothing music to keep you calm.
  • Use your diary for appointments, have a list of clients details, clarify and rehearse the objective of your visit and desired results.
  • Keep notes in your diary or laptop. Don’t write things down on bits of paper as they are easily lost.
  • Keep a notebook and pen handy so you can jot down ideas as they come to mind.
